Story Massage

Story massage involves the use of easy to follow strokes, which are assigned to a symbol and are associated with spoken words, that help to build up an engaging story.

The strokes concentrate on shoulders, back, arms and head. No oil is used and the movements are carried out over clothing.

Story massage can be used with any age and adapted to suit children and adults and those with special needs.

The routines are set to rhymes, songs, stories or memories. Stories can be linked to the educational curriculum or tailored to an individuals needs.

Individuals can be supported to create their own ‘story massages’ which can aid self expression, emotional development, creativity and interaction.

The strokes can be given between parent and child, peer to peer, sibling to sibling, adult to adult, care giver to client etc. There are no restrictions, apart from a consensual agreement.

It is a fun way to learn to relax and receive the powerful benefits of positive touch.

MOTH Therapies has achieved a Best Practice Award for the work carried out, using Story Massage with Babies and children. Click here to read a blog about my work written by the co-founders of Story Massage.

2 programmes are available for babies, incorporating traditional Baby Massage and Story Massage, and Story massage with sensory play; further building baby’s development and on the benefits of massage as well as positive touch, by teaching parents a whole new set of skills, that will grow with their child and that can be used with other members of the family.

The groups are fun and interactive, using traditional rhymes, songs and books.

Groups are also available for older babies, toddlers and children, of all ages.

Workshops are also available for Parents.
